Houses for Change
Join us in this community partnership to teach change through creativity and understanding!
The Project:
In York County, Volk Packaging Corporation and United Way of York County are partnering to bring Houses for Change to our local community. Through this effort we will be using the simplicity of markers and crayons to teach children how to responsive to a community need, while truly recognizing what homelessness is. The project brings together children and adults to answer the question, "What can we do to help?" Money raised from the decorated boxes will be distributed locally to organizations active in helping those affected by being homeless.
Why this is important...
Homelessness in Maine affects more than 8,000 people. Of that number:
. 47% were adult individuals
. 22% were families
. 16% were unaccompanied youth
